Who We Are

At Foundation 1(9)68, we know that change starts with people like you. Every act of kindness, every dollar, and every moment of your time brings us closer to achieving our mission to support children of the 2nd generation affected by the American War in Vietnam, followed by the genocide in Cambodia 1975-79. Through education, including music, sports, gardening, learning different languages, computer skills and app development, trauma informed mental health care, along with providing simple needs like shoes, clothes, food, school fees and fun, this generation can develop a brighter future. Together, we can create a more compassionate world for all.

Projects

Foundation 1(9)68 Initiatives for 2026: DCC and HOC

Foundation 1(9)68 believes in uplifting youth through partnerships with organizations that have grown out of their local communities and have withstood the test of time and shown ethical leadership and programming. They know best how to support youth. In 2026 we are building off efforts that the Founding Director of Foundation 1(9)68 began in 2025.

In 2025, the first year of fundraising, and pre-foundation status, we raised over $6,000 in cash and other donations, to generate the following outcomes:

With HOC, your contributions helped create a large greenhouse and out garden for growing vegetables. You also supported one big shopping trip with the kids for personal items and food.

At DCC, your contributions helped support the building of a school room for robot computer programming and 2 robots for the children who would not otherwise be able to access these learning tools. With your help, we hope to break ground on a full school where all children can learn in the way that only the wealthiest can now.

Education

Learning Initiatives

We help our partners provide educational resources to children, ensuring they have access to schools,  study materials and the highest quality teachers and teaching methods that promote intellectual, physical and emotional development. Children learn the skills to be successful adults and to be community and family members who want to share compassion, love and resources with others.

As just one example, Foundation 1(9)68 supports DCC where youth learning on outdoor computers have won 2 national programming competitions and came in second place in a global programming competition. Imagine what they can do with support.

Sports and Music

Sports helps with physical and emotional health and teaches team work and group esteem

Our sports programs encourage teamwork and physical health, creating positive experiences that develop skills and confidence in young participants.

At HOC, the children learn Japanese, a few are fluent and attend college in Japan, and about Japanese cultural arts, like Taiko drumming.  They play and run outside regularly.

At DCC, Director Vanroth Vann has led their team to win National Championships against the wealthiest schools and has had several students go on to be professional soccer players in various countries. One received a full soccer scholarship to a US University.

Community: People and Environment

Even those with the least can give to and protect the environment and their communities

Foundation 1(9)68 supports activities developed by the organizations such as the children selecting elderly people living alone to bring gifts of food to before the Cambodian New Year and cleaning fish ponds so that there is enough vegetation for the fish to hide in and not so much that they are choked. They have days where they clean areas of the community and developed an app to help youth with understanding recycling and another to report forest fires.

Such activities feed the souls of youth, build self esteem and create adults who will remember to give back.
